Ruling Congress MP Dr. Sunil Sharma said that the government should implement a health insurance program for every citizen. He said that the government should also implement the health insurance program for the implementation of health-related rights guaranteed by the constitution.

In the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, MP Sharma, while presenting a proposal of public importance entitled 'National health insurance for all citizens and an effective system including drug treatment fund for poor citizens', MP Sharma said that the health insurance program should also be implemented for the remote people . He said that the government should implement the health insurance program prudently.

'Government is the guardian of citizens . Even if the government is starving, it should play the role of parents. The government played the role of guardian ? And democracy was ridiculed or not? Has the system been mocked or not? In this democracy, if you don't implement the system written in the constitution, then the Nepali people will have to live as a democracy, will they look for an alternative?,' MP Sharma said, 'I am a democrat, there is no confusion about it.' I am a follower of VP Koirala . I always advocate for democracy, but we should not develop the system as a mechanism to kill the people while calling it democracy. I believe that the state should always be on the side of the citizens.'

Presenting his proposal in Parliament, Sharma was of the opinion that the government should continue better programs. "Without losing conscience, implement the proposal presented by me under the health insurance program to every citizen in remote areas and if possible, a better proposal from next month," he requested the government. 

MP Sharma alleged that the government has taken money from the public for health insurance but has not returned it. "The government is so helpless that for health insurance, the government collects 3,500 to 5,000 rupees from the citizens and the people of the government raise their hands and say - we can't pay this money anymore." We cannot give the insurance money to the insured,' he said. We are also curious to know this.'

Sharma also said that the government is giving the amount of health insurance not from its own expenses but from people's money. He objected to the fact that the government officials are acting as if they are donating to the people for insurance by earning from home or private income. "The health insurance program is a subject that was started in our time, when our leader Gagan Thapa was the health minister after the advent of democracy, with a vision for the benefit of the citizens and the safety of the citizens," he said. He also said that if the government cannot provide the insurance amount, it will not be safe.

Sharma said that the government has claimed to give five lakhs for kidney transplant, but even that is being discriminated against by designating a certain center. "There are thousands of people with kidney failure who can get a free kidney transplant from any center in Kathmandu and reach Humla, Tarai, and the mountains if they can buy medicine with five lakh rupees given by the government. But you don't give . You are syndicating . You only trade in one or two centers of your choice . You do business . Is the government a businessperson, a businessman?,' he said, 'If the government is not a businessperson, the citizens should be able to use your facility wherever it is convenient for the citizens, or not?'
