The ruling party CPN-UML has said that any attempt to overthrow the democratic republic will not succeed.
This decision was taken by the party's secretariat meeting held at the party's central office in Chasal on Monday. Narrating the decisions of the meeting, Deputy General Secretary of the party Pradeep Gyawali said that the meeting has drawn serious attention of the CPN-UML to the planned activities against the democratic republic and the constitution of Nepal for some time.
Mentioning that the Democratic Republic of Nepal is the result of a seven-decade-long sacrificial struggle of the people, he asserted that any attempt to reverse this decision of the people and return the country to a backward direction will not be successful.
He said, 'Since some time, CPN-UML has been drawing serious attention to the planned activities against the democratic republic and the constitution of Nepal. The democratic republic is the result of seven decades of sacrifice struggle of the Nepalese people. Contrary to the agreement made during the movement in the past, the federal democratic republic was established by the historic Constituent Assembly with the conclusion that monarchy and democracy cannot go together after the monarchy has repeatedly attacked the rights of the people and turned towards totalitarianism.
UML has said that even in the 21st century, the debate on hereditary rule of birth superiority is itself ridiculous, harmful and futile. UML has said that it is committed to move towards effective implementation of the constitution, ensuring political stability, good governance, effective service delivery and economic development and reform.
Reviewing a decade of implementation of the constitution, it has stated that it is determined to further strengthen the democratic system. Deputy Secretary General Gyawali said that the meeting approved the names of 28 additional members sent by the Lumbini Province Committee for approval.
He told the decision of the meeting and said, 'Any attempt to reverse this decision of the people and turn the country in a backward direction cannot be successful. Nepal has achieved significant progress in a short time after the establishment of democracy. There are many things that need to be done, but the attempt to reject the achievements, create negative comments, demoralize the people and the nation and turn the country back in an undemocratic direction under the same pretext cannot be accepted. Even in the 21st century, the debate on the hereditary rule of innate superiority is a ridiculous, harmful and pointless topic.
He claimed that the opposition parties seeking a share in the government and building a ladder to the government has raised serious ethical questions.
