Health Minister Paudel's plan to strengthen the fund of health insurance so that citizens are not burdened
Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has said that the health insurance fund will be strengthened if only a small part of the tax imposed on sugary products that have a greater impact on the health of the citizens and taxes imposed on pollution, tobacco, alcohol, etc., which have an adverse effect on health, will go directly to the health insurance fund.
Speaking at a public event on the report of the Health Insurance Reform Suggestion Task Force, he put forward such an argument. Minister Paudel has also said that it is possible to arrange for the health insurance of employees who are paid by the state to be provided through the health insurance fund, and one percent of the salary will be provided by the citizens and the remaining one percent by the state.
Stating that health insurance is provided by all three governments, it is necessary to use the money spent by all three governments for the health treatment of citizens to strengthen the insurance fund. Minister Pradeep Paudel said that health insurance can be arranged so that common citizens are not burdened and the government is taking that path.
He said, 'Now it will be mandatory to have a health insurance unit at every level.' Minister Poudel said that this amount is currently around 30 billion and hoped that if this amount is spent through a one-door system to strengthen the health insurance fund, the current financial shortage will be removed .
Since the health insurance board has not been able to pay for years, the outstanding amount has increased to 17.42 billion rupees. This amount is till February 25. Due to non-payment, the amount claimed by the service provider in the current financial year has not been settled. Even one and a half billion rupees of the last financial year of the service provider organizations that should be paid by the board after joining have not been paid.
