Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Balram Adhikari has said that a bill has been introduced to return the money of savers in cooperatives.
While answering the questions raised by the MPs on the Ordinance Replacement Bill, the minister said that they are trying to make a law to solve the distortions and irregularities seen in the cooperative sector.
In the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, while answering the question raised by the MPs while filing a notice of opposition on the bill, the minister said that necessary amendments are being made to the existing law and arrangements are being made to return the savings of the cooperative savers .
'The bill has been brought to solve the distortions and irregularities seen in the field of cooperatives, to make necessary amendments in the existing laws to return the savings of savers and to protect the savings, to organize the rules of the regulatory authorities and to take action against the wrongdoers, to coordinate the three levels of government to further organize the cooperatives,' said the minister officer, 'This bill has been brought to represent all classes and levels . I request to withdraw the notices of opposition because the bill has come in accordance with the rules prescribed by the ICA.'
The Minister said that he believes that the bill will help to make the cooperative sector transparent and effective.
MPs Prabhu Sah, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Prem Suwal, Meena Tamang, Rupa Soshi (Chowdhary), Chitra Bahadur KC, Ramkumar Rai, Lekhnath Dahal, Purna Bahadur Gharti Magar and Sumana Shrestha filed notices of opposition to the bill.
The minister informed that the government has formed problem cooperatives and announced 22 problematic cooperatives and solved the problems of 3 government ones. He said that the government has succeeded in returning the funds of 10 cooperatives.
