It is wrong for people's representatives to think that they are above law and order: Deputy Prime Minister Singh

Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh has said that in democracy, no representative of the people is above the rules and regulations.

Laying the foundation stone of the Shiddeshwar Mahadev Temple in Naya Baneshwar on Monday, he said that people's representatives should follow the law and rules.

Deputy Prime Minister Singh said that the work of development and construction will be facilitated only if the people's representatives and citizens at all three levels of union, state and local work together. He emphasized that all three levels of government should be run according to laws and regulations.

'No one is above law and order when being elected. After becoming a people's representative, thinking that I am above the law, it smells undemocratic and dictatorial," Deputy Prime Minister Singh said. "There is a problem when there is no proper communication between the wishes of the local citizens and the people's representatives. People's representatives should understand the people's wishes and work according to the rules and regulations.

Deputy Prime Minister Singh also said that the country and society cannot develop under a dictator. "It is not to become a big man who came into politics. There is nothing whether it is in the position or not. The parties should work together to make the life and livelihood of the Nepali people easier by securing and institutionalizing the acquired rights," he said.
