A group including the leaders of the ruling Congress-affiliated NDA vandalized the office of the Rector and Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology Studies at Tribhuvan University on Friday. A group of five/seven people, including Narendra Saud, who was elected as a member of Swaviyu from New Union, and Sikendra Rokaya, coordinator of Trivi Sangharsh Samiti, vandalized the office of Rector Khadg KC and Dean Shankar Khanal at Kirtipur.

The office of Rector and Dean stated that the chair, glass, table, drawer and sofa in the office were damaged. Eyewitnesses say that both the working rooms were vandalized by a group led by Saud. Rector Casey and Dean Khanal said that they do not know who vandalized the workroom and why. "The vandalism was done before I reached the office," Rector KC said, "We have informed the Kirtipur police circle about the incident. The police may be investigating.'

The students have been protesting through the Trivi Sangharsh Committee for a few days, with the demands of reducing the fees of the Central Department, among other things, with the Rector. The movement is led by students belonging to the union. They submitted the memorandum and locked the Rector's office. But they were outraged when the university administration broke the lock.

The employees and students said that the same group vandalized. Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology said that the students of physics were asking to move the examination of the second semester of the master's level. There is an exam after the Swaviyu elections. The students were demanding that it should be moved. I had been saying that it should not be moved," Dean Khanal said, "There was no other controversial issue. It is not known whether the reason for vandalism is the same or something else.'

After it was found that the students of Navysangh were involved in vandalism, Navysangh University Unit Committee issued a statement saying that there is no official involvement of the organization in the vandalism. In a statement issued by unit president Vishnu Badaila, it is mentioned that there is no official decision or direction from the organization in this regard.

'The Union does not support any kind of violent or subversive activities. Uncivil activities like vandalism are against the ideals and beliefs of the Union," the statement said. Our serious attention has been drawn to misleading news and baseless allegations.'
