There will be competition between 25 unions and organizations in the election of the independent student union. According to the Central Monitoring Committee of the University of Swabi University Elections, student organizations have registered on Monday to participate in the elections to be held on Chait 5.
Pashupati Adhikari, member secretary of the committee, said that the election committee has been formed in all 62 official campuses of the University. Aneraswaviyu, New Union, All Revolutionary, Aneraswaviyu Samajwadi, Nepal Revolutionary Student, All Revolutionary (Vaidya), National Democratic Student Organization, All Socialist, Samajwadi Student Union, All Sixth and All Nepal Student Union have registered for the election.
Similarly, Democratic Student Association, Aneraswaviyu (Fifth), Student Janmat Association, Nepal Vidyarthi Morcha, Academic Student Council, Scientific Socialist Student Organization, All Revolutionary Majority are also registered.
National Democratic Student Organization Nepal, Scientist Socialist Student Front, Civic Student Society, National Student Association, New Shakti Student Union, Socialist Student Union, National Student Forum are also registered, according to the committee. 2079, 19 student unions participated in the elections held in March. In order to participate in the
election, there is a provision that student organizations/groups must be registered in the respective campuses. Large student organizations such as Navysangh, Aneraswaviyu, Akhil Krantikari and others have announced their candidates including presidents in some campuses. According to the schedule of elections of Swaviyu, nominations will be registered in campuses across the country on February 27. The member secretary officer said that both direct and proportional nomination papers will be filed on the same day. The time for registration of candidature has been fixed from 11 am to 2 pm. The polling time is fixed on Chait 5 from 8 am to 4 pm. It is mentioned in the schedule that the voter list will be published on February 21.
Except for private campuses, community and affiliated private campuses can conduct self-education elections. For the election, the University has issued the Guideline 2081 regarding the Swaviyu election. As the 2-year tenure of the officers elected in the Swaviyu election held in March 2079 is about to end, the Executive Council of the University has prepared for the election. There is a provision that the campuses should implement the central agenda by forming election committees.
The age limit of 28 years has been set to be a candidate in the Swaviyu elections. There is an arrangement to hold elections according to the mixed system. President, Secretary, Treasurer and some members will be elected by direct election system while Vice President, Joint Secretary and some members will be elected by proportional election system. Based on the number of student voters in the campus, it is arranged that the number of the working committee of Swaviyu will be maintained.
Trivi has also issued a code of conduct for elections. Persons or organizations receiving government salaries are prohibited from engaging in election-related activities. It is mentioned in the code of conduct that writing on the walls, using microphones, tul flex and pasting posters inside the campus is prohibited. It has been arranged that the manifesto and the name sheet of the candidate can be circulated on paper of the same color and size. The campus head will have to form an election committee to conduct the election. It is mentioned in the election guidelines that there will be a 5-member election committee for campuses with up to 200 students and a 13-member election committee for campuses with more than 5,000 students.
Trivika Rector Khadg KC said that arrangements have been made to supervise the election this time. In each district, there will be a supervision committee with representative members of Nepal Bar Association, Human Rights Commission and Federation of Nepal Journalists.
