The gray bush phisto bird, which is thought to be extinct from Nepal, has been seen in Chitwan. The Nepal Ornithologists Association has informed about this by issuing a press release on Monday.

Ornithologist Pratap Gurung last November 23rd in the field of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-26 Divyanagar  The said bird was seen. The photo of the bird taken by Gurung was sent to the Nepal Bird Record Committee on 8th of January.

Dr. Tulsi Subedi of the Nepal Bird Record Committee informed that the committee also confirmed that the bird was a gray bush fisto based on the bird's photo and other details.

Dr. Subedi said that since there is no record of this bird in Nepal since the 19th century, it is considered extinct. Its English name is 'Brown Bush Warbler' and its scientific name is Locustella luteoventris .  This bird is found in Bhutan, India, China, Myanmar and Thailand according to the Nepal Ornithologists' Association. . It is now included in the list found in Nepal as well.
