The followers of Islam have started a month-long 'roja' (fasting) from today. In the Islamic tradition, Ramadan, which is celebrated by fasting all day, has started from today.

There is a tradition of celebrating Rozna according to Hijri (Urdu) Samvat calendar. According to this, with the end of the month of 'Shawan' yesterday and the beginning of Ramadan today, the fast has started. Ramadan is the ninth month according to the Hijri calendar of Islamic tradition.

It is believed in Islam that fasting and fasting in this month are very beneficial. It is believed that all Muslims except children, the elderly, and the infirm should be celibate and fast. This fast is observed from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset, without eating food or water and praying daily. It is an Islamic tradition that after the completion of a month of fasting, the month of Sawwal of the Hijri year begins and the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the same day.

When the moon is seen for the first time as soon as the month of 'Shawan' ends, it is an Islamic tradition to start Ramadan from the next day by performing 'Tarabi' Namaz (special prayer), said Muhammad Qadir Hussain, an expert on Islam from Ramgopalpur-2 Mahanpur.

According to the decision of "Bukhari Sharif", fasting has started today in most places of Nepal and India. The month of Ramadan is considered very holy in Islamic tradition. In the month of Majan, it is believed that the holy book 'Quran' was descended on the earth.
