An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred on Friday morning with its epicenter around Bhairavkund in Sindhupalchok. But the police said that there was no human or material damage due to the earthquake.

According to the central police spokesperson of Nepal Police, DIG Dinesh Kumar Acharya, there was no human casualty even though the earthquake struck in the middle of the night. He said that there was no information about any major physical damage due to the earthquake.

'Normal damage has been seen in Sindhupalchok, the epicenter of the earthquake, apart from that there has been no information about human and material damage,' DIG Acharya said, 'A dry landslide has occurred at one place in Bhotekoshi area of ​​Sindhupalchok. There was no damage from that either.'

In Sindhupalchok, a prisoner's arm was broken after falling during an escape, the police said. He is being treated at the district hospital. 

According to the Nepal Earthquake Measurement and Research Center, the earthquake occurred at 2:51 this morning. The shock of the earthquake was felt in various parts of the country including Kathmandu Valley and in India including Darjeeling.
