The Minister of Women, Children and Senior Citizens Nawalkishore Shah Sudi has said that the Government of Nepal is committed to implementing the seventh periodic report presented by the Nepalese government to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (SID) Committee.

3 reports were presented on behalf of Nepal in the 90th session of CID held in Geneva last February 3-5. After presenting the report in SID, Minister Sudi expressed this commitment at a press conference jointly organized by Women, Law and Development Forum (FWLD) and Equality Now on Thursday.

Minister Sudi on behalf of the government, shadow report by FWLD on behalf of civil society network, National Human Rights Commission and National Women's Commission jointly presented the report.

program, Kamala Parajuli, chairperson of the Women's Commission, said that the SID Committee's supplementary report included many issues of women. She said that the Commission will work as a bridge connecting the civil society and the government, and mentioned that the Ministry of Non-Governmental Organizations is Baisakhi.

Likewise, Lili Thapa, a member of the Human Rights Commission, said that the seventh periodical report presented by the government is more progressive than the past. She said, 'If the topics covered in the report are not implemented, it will have no meaning.'

FWLD Executive Director Advocate Savin Shrestha spoke about the preparation of the seventh periodic shadow report prepared on behalf of the civil society. He said that the shadow report has been prepared after extensive interaction and discussion in all 7 provinces on 16 agendas within the framework of SID Committee.
