Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Navalkishore Shah Sudy has said that the government is committed to ensure the rights of women.

Referring to the recent report submitted by Nepal on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (SID), Minister Sudi said that he is now positive about implementing the recommendations given by the committee and taking initiatives to improve the situation.

In the discussion held by the Women, Law and Development Forum on Thursday about the findings and suggestions of the 'CID 90th session', Minister Sudi said that the ministry is aware of this matter as it is a matter that is directly related to his ministry.

He said, 'The progress and challenges in the journey of gender equality in Nepal have been covered in the report, even if the legal and policy structures are improved, our main interest is the effective implementation of those policies and laws. We are always ready to cooperate with the civil society by preparing targeted policies and programs to solve such challenges.'

Noting that Nepal is fully committed to eradicating violence against women, Minister Sudi said that legal and policy structures are being strengthened for that. 'The government is always ready for the implementation of national and international commitments,  It is also accountable, the Women's Convention passed by the United Nations General Assembly covering all aspects related to women's equality and development is an important international document that legally recognizes the human rights of women, the Ministry is always active in the full implementation of the CID Convention, he said.

Minister Sudi said that the government believes that government and non-government organizations should move forward together. He said that the government and non-governmental organizations are not rivals of each other but are organizations that work for the same purpose. Minister Sudi said that if the government and non-governmental organizations work together, discrimination and violence against women can be ended by ensuring women's rights.

Kamala Parajuli, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, stressed on the practical implementation of the issues of oppressed communities including women, tribals and tribals as stipulated in the SID.

The founding president of Dalit Mahila Sangh Durga Sow said that the report presented by Nepal in CID has exposed the current situation of Nepal and now everyone should try to improve it.
