Public Service Commission Chairman Madhav Prasad Regmi has said that state governments cannot appoint employees on contract, wage and temporary basis by bringing ordinances. He said that the employees appointed in that way cannot do the work of the government in a clean and fair manner.
In Thursday's meeting of the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee under the National Assembly, Chairman Regmi said that provinces will be accused of appointing employees to relatives by bringing an ordinance.
'What I would like to say as the chairman of the Public Service Commission is that the ordinance issued by the state government to appoint employees is against the merit system . Can't do that . It is not possible to run the budget of the state government by appointing temporary, contract, and wage workers,' he said, 'as many posts as necessary should be maintained by 'O&M' . The work of the provincial government had to be resumed by maintaining the post, advertising and making permanent appointments.
Regmi said that questions are going to be raised about the employees appointed by the state government in public. He said, 'What is understood by the general public now is that when it comes to contracts and wages, there is nepotism and nepotism. It cannot take the quality of competition . It seems that it cannot be done on the basis of the belief that it cannot do the work of Nepal government cleanly, fairly and properly.' In the
committee meeting, the parliamentarians demanded Chairman Regmi's opinion on the Gandaki state government bringing an ordinance and appointing employees. The parliamentarians said that the government of Gandaki province had to appoint employees on temporary, contractual and salaried basis as they could not work due to lack of staff.
