Maoist President Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the Maoist movement has done the job of giving constitutional status to the Muslim community, which has been neglected by the state.
Addressing the welcome and meeting program organized in Harinagar Rural Municipality of Sunsari under the 'Maoist with the People, Hulaki Marg Centered Terai-Madhesh Awakening Campaign', Dahal said that political change was possible due to the 'people's war' with the participation of oppressed and neglected communities.
Similarly, Chairman Dahal said that since the constitution which was made to institutionalize political change established secularism, the Muslim community has rights and no one can take away the rights of oppressed communities including Muslims as long as Maoists remain. He said that the Maoist party should be strengthened to make it possible for their rights to be fully implemented as the oppressed and neglected communities are strong due to the Maoist movement.
Muslim leaders submitted a memorandum to President Dahal in a program held in the Muslim settlement of Harinagar-6. They asked to be serious about the problem of the border area and the voice of the Muslim community and said that the state should be sensitive to the occasional communal violence.
