Indra Bahadur Angbo, the leader of the Maoist Koshi Province Parliamentary Party, has warned that his party will also go on strike if the government does not adopt the path of negotiation over the cable car construction dispute in Pathibhara (Mukkumlung) area.
Speaking at a special time in the state assembly meeting on Sunday, Angbo strongly objected to the repressive attitude of the government. He demanded to stop the cable car construction work immediately and to form a high-level negotiation team to solve the problem. "The suppression of the local community by imposing bans and curfews is unacceptable," Angbo said.
He clarified that until now his party was only providing moral support to the movement, but the government would participate directly in the movement if it continued in this way.
Angbo also criticized the working style of the Prime Minister. He said that the prime minister is celebrating his birthday when the clashes are going on in Taplejung and the people are in panic.
Angbo expressed serious displeasure with the government's working style, saying that it is trying to move forward in unison without discussing with the stakeholders about the dispute regarding the holy shrine of Hindus and Kirats. He has also requested the government to arrange proper treatment for the injured.
