All the accused are absconding in the case of rape and suspicious death of 17-year-old girl Rinku Kumari Sada of Navrajpur Rural Municipality-1 Bhagwatipur of Siraha. The police have detained four suspects.
The police took a supplementary complaint from the victim's family on Thursday against the three involved in the rape and the five eight people who tried to settle the incident in the village through panchayati.
Madhesh Province Police Office Janakpur, District Police Sirha and Area Police Lahan three teams are searching for them, said SSP Shantiraj Koirala, coordinator of the incident investigation team. Apart from that, he said that other suspects and people close to the accused are being detained and interrogated.
According to SSP Koirala, 4 people have been arrested so far. He informed that there is a person close to the accused who played the role of Panchayat to settle the incident. "We have detained the suspect and are interrogating and collecting evidence," said Koirala. According to him, the state, district and local police are focused on arresting the main accused. He said that the investigation will be carried forward based on the same evidence as the post-mortem and forensic report will be coming soon.
Rinkukumari, who went out to defecate on the night of last January 27, was gang-raped after the kidnapping of Rupesh Mandal, Chandan Sah and Ramvinay Mandal of the village . However, instead of sending the victim to the police, ward members Nathuni Sah, Rampukar Mandal, Rampreet Sah, Ramkripal Mandal, Vindeshwar and others organized a panchayat to settle the incident in the village.
On January 29 and 30, the panchayat in the village hall decided to pay a fine of 140,000 from the victim and not to let the victim go to the police. However, there was a dispute between the relatives of the accused in the panchayat regarding the payment of money. Then the girl was found dead hanging in her house on 30th evening.
Although the family of the victim filed a complaint against four people for rape and murder, the police of Lahan's case division refused to take a complaint, and only filed a complaint against Rupesh for inciting suicide. After this matter came up in the media, the police took a supplementary complaint from the victim's family in four crimes of dutiful killing, extortion, body hostage and transaction collusion. Three people have been charged with gang rape and five people have been charged with panchayati.
