Nature was holding back the tide of pain

Prakriti Lamsal, a Nepali student studying B-Tech third year at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, was completing her studies in one and a half years. Prakriti of Siddharth Nagar-8 Bank Colony in Ruppandehi said in a phone conversation with her mother Saru a week and a half ago that she would give her father a car as a 'surprise' as she would earn good money after completing her studies.

Saru could not listen to her husband Sunil because of her daughter's desire. "I will give you a car surprise with the money earned by my daughter," she told Sunil on the same day. However, Prakriti was found dead in the university hostel less than 10 days later.

One and a half months ago when she came home or when she told her mother about her desire to give her father a car as a 'surprise', Prakriti suppressed the tide of pain inside her. On the day of the incident, February 4 (Sunday), even when talking to her mother, she did not show any signs of stress. The conversation took place at 2:51 p.m. that day. The festival is going on in the college, the artist Badshah is coming,' said Saru, 'it was decided to go now at 4 o'clock, I will be ready.' She panicked and told her husband Sunil. Sunil said, "I felt that something bad had happened." Sunil said that after calling the university and finding out, he left for Odisha with three friends.

When they reached the Odisha airport at 12 am on Monday, the university vehicle and the Indian police had come to pick them up. The police team took the four to the university. And he showed the nature living room which was sealed. After reaching AIIMS hospital, the dead body was shown. And the father agreed to do the autopsy.

After that, Sunil said that they were taken away saying that Achyut Samant, the chief administrator of the university, wanted to meet him. "After Samant told us that they were very sad and condoled with the incident, we told them to give justice," he said. "The university administration, Nepali and Indian students, the embassy all helped in that," he said. The family brought Prakriti's body to Nepal on Wednesday and performed the funeral.

Prakriti, who studied in Bhairahawa till class 4 and Uniglobe College in Kathmandu till class 12, went to Odisha to study IT. Along with him, Grandmother's son Dai Siddhant Sigdel, brother Soraj Khanal were also admitted to the university in the year 2022. Siddhant took mechanical and computer science with nature by request. "First we understood in Bangalore," said Sunil, "we sent Odisha because it would be easier because my brother is also there." More than 400 Nepali students were enrolled in the year they were admitted. "In the first year, they only keep students from their own countries together, when we did that, we were 80 people in 5 sections," he said, "from the second and third years, they mix students from other countries." However, he said that there is no information about his contact and relationship with Srivastava.

Srivastava, who is accused of abusing nature and forcing him to commit suicide, was studying in the third year of B-Tech Mechanical, but was staying in a flat outside the university hostel. "It has been reported that he is the son of a political leader," said Jaisingh Chaudhary of Gandhawa-3 Loniha, Rupandehi, another friend of Prakriti.

The victim's family complains that the university is hiding many issues related to the incident. After the daughter submitted a petition with evidence of abuse twice, the administration took action against the boy for the first time and suspended him for the second time. But, it is still kept a secret,' said father Sunil, 'the culprit should be punished severely.'

In the discussion with Samant, the chief director of the university, the Nepali team proposed that a renewable fund should be established on behalf of the university in the name of Prakriti, that one of the Nepali students should be guaranteed a full scholarship and that the entire authority of the selection should be given to Prakriti's parents. Even though the administration agreed with Samant, there was no further agreement.

The families and relatives who are in mourning after Prakriti's death have said that the environment in which Nepali students can study safely is still not guaranteed. Prakriti's uncle Shiv Sharma said that the behavior of the university towards the Nepali students after the incident is increasing the panic. "Students who returned home under stress did not want to study again. To ensure that, the government of Nepal and stakeholders It is necessary to take the initiative of

," he said. Locals also demonstrated in Bhairahawa on Friday, demanding an investigation into the nature death incident, action against the culprits and a safe environment for Nepali students.
