A poor family of Achham is in dire straits after a 12-year-old daughter became pregnant by a relative while living in India for work.

A couple from a lower class family of Chowradi village were janitors and domestic workers in Surat, India for a long time. Leaving the only daughter at home, the mother used to go to the housework while the father used to go to the chowkidari. His family lived in another room of the same house. It has been revealed that the 12-year-old girl was repeatedly raped by the 46-year-old relative living in the next room and was 28 weeks pregnant. According to the

victim girl, the men had been raping her by showing fear and threatening her since last June. She was repeatedly raped because she threatened to tell her family and kill her. The girl's family did not know about it.

The police believe that the girl's parents, who are in a poor financial condition, cannot speak loudly to anyone and are only interested in their own work, so they raped the girl several times, considering it as a weakness.

Last October, her parents returned to Achham with the girl to celebrate Tihar. According to the family members, the girl, who had her period for the first time last May, had her period three times till June. Irregularity for a while after the first period was taken for granted by the family. The girl's stomach became bigger and other physical changes also started to appear.

His father brought him to Bayalpata Hospital for treatment on February 2, suspecting other diseases due to swollen stomach. On examination, a report was given that the pregnancy was more than 25 weeks. It was revealed that the girl was repeatedly raped and pregnant only after the hospital report. "Suddenly, when the report came that the minor daughter was pregnant, we were like falling from a cliff, a thunderbolt hit the family," says the girl's father. The victim also used to play with the man's daughter. Since there were different rooms and relatives in the same house, it was taken as a matter of normality to come and go to each other's rooms. "We ourselves are crazy because of the pain of child birth and death again and again, now this happened again in my family, my relatives did not let my family's happiness last," he said, "Because it is more than 28 weeks, we cannot have an abortion, they say that the child should be born." Where to go, what to do, we can't think of anything.

Even though she was repeatedly raped by her relatives, the girl could not tell her family about the incident due to fear and threats, said Achham police chief DSP Ishwari Prasad Bhandari. According to him, after finding out that the girl was raped on February 2, the family filed a complaint against the 46-year-old man on February 4. He said that since the accused was in India, he could not be immediately arrested and brought under investigation. "Since the accused is in India, it is not easy to arrest them, we are cooperating with the Indian police," said DSP Bhandari.
