Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that only the executive head directly elected by the people can establish good governance by ending political stability and corruption.
Dahal said this while inaugurating the national gathering of Tamu Rashtriya Mukti Morcha Nepal held in Pokhara on Friday. In the
meeting, Dahal said, 'We have kept some 'reservations' during the constitution making . If the constitution is to be amended, we are ready. But, for whom, on whose behalf ? This is an important question. We are in favor of a directly elected chief executive and a proportional electoral system. Only this can maintain political stability and good governance.' He also challenged the alliance between Congress and UML in the 2084 elections.
President Dahal said, 'Now there is an alliance between Congress and UML. An alliance was made between Congress and UML in the by-election as well. They want to form an alliance in 2084 . I want them to meet . We go to the people alone. We believe in the power of the people. I appeal to the people - you should be united, show your strength.'
He said that he was in favor of the oppressed class and caste. He said, 'We have been struggling in favor of the oppressed class, caste and community. Meanwhile, our class partisanship weakened. Now we are in a place to go back to the square and raise the movement. We stand firmly on this.'
