162 students studying at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha state of India, have returned to their country through Birganj crossing. According to the Chief District Officer of Parsa, Ganesh Aryalaya, a large number of Nepali students have left the country from Wednesday to Friday.

The local administration is collecting the data of the students of the institute returning through this border. Most of the returnees have reached Raxaul via Kolkata in India. About 80 percent of the returned students are from Parsa district and the rest are from Bara, Rautahat, Dhanusha and other districts.

Most of the students who have returned home have demanded justice for Prakriti Lamsal, a Nepali student who committed suicide. Complaining that they were kicked out of the hostel for no reason, they also demanded that their upcoming exams be postponed immediately.

According to Prazia Aralaya, a group of Nepalese students who returned from the institute submitted a memorandum to the district administration office on Friday. "15/16 students came with a memorandum," Aryal said, "In the memorandum, they have requested to create an environment for them to return to the institute."

Understanding the memorandum, he said that since this incident has now become a national level, even if he wanted to immediately, he could not give assurance of support personally. "Even the Ministry of Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs are working on this incident in their own way," he said, "I am ready to provide information, coordination and support from the district level."
