Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel has said that the challenge to national security has increased. Sigdel said that the change in the international and regional geopolitical situation and the situation created by it has also created a challenge in Nepal's national security.

He said that it is necessary to develop a 'new strategy' to face the challenge and for this, it is necessary for the state agencies to analyze and find effective solutions in a coordinated manner.

A two-day Prime Minister's coordination meeting has started from Thursday at the military headquarters, Jangi Adda, to review various issues including the country's overall security situation and geopolitical situation, and formulate a strategy. Inaugurating the meeting, Defense Minister Manveer Rai said that the changing geo-political environment, polarization in the current international environment and ongoing conflicts in various places have affected Nepal in some way and said that Nepal should be prepared to face it.

He said that everyone should be united to face the challenges caused by artificial intelligence, including climate change and technology. Addressing the same meeting, Chief of Army Staff Sigdel mentioned that it is necessary to "find effective measures by analyzing various strategies and coordination systems in a timely manner to face future security challenges". While addressing the

meeting, Sigdel said that 'current world security situation is becoming more sensitive, complex and confusing from a multi-dimensional point of view, fluctuations in internal and external situations will create security challenges of a new nature' and said that there is a need to work in a coordinated manner between all parties in the country to deal with it. According to a journalist who participated in the

meeting, Jangi Adda plans to conduct a half-yearly study of the military organization and submit a security report on the current situation of the country on behalf of the army, after an in-depth review of the geopolitical situation and prepare a report with suggestions.

'After Donald Trump assumed power, the US has suspended the grants from USAID, MCC, etc., it seems that the country has to make a future strategy after analyzing which areas of Nepal have been affected in what way.' According to another high military officer who participated in the

meeting, the situation in which various parties have been protesting within the country with their own demands will also be thoroughly reviewed in the meeting. "Basically, right now there is activity on the side/opposition to decide whether or not to build a cable car, the background of this is connected with Koshi naming," says the official, "If this issue is not resolved peacefully and universally, it may proceed in such a way that it will adversely affect national security. This issue will also be discussed in depth in the Pritnapati coordination meeting." The official says that it is necessary to solve it.

On the first day of the two-day conference, Defense Minister Rai and Commander-in-Chief Sigdel gave speeches, while senior military officers from various departments, including Directorate General of War Operations, Directorate General of Military Intelligence, gave presentations on the geopolitical situation and its impact on Nepal. According to the spokesperson of the army, Assistant Gaurav Kumar KC, in the meeting, there is a program of briefing and review of the security situation of their respective areas and other items on Friday.
