Half Yearly Review of Lumbini Govt.: Chief Minister Acharya's instructions to increase size of capital expenditure

The Lumbini state government has conducted a semi-annual review. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning organized a half-yearly review program on Thursday at the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers.

In the program, the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chetnarayan Acharya, has instructed the subordinate agencies to pay special attention to the implementation and payment of the capital budget allocated in the current financial year. In the half-yearly review program of the current financial year 2081/82, Chief Minister Acharya directed to increase the capital expenditure and pay for the completed projects without delay.

According to public information, the capital expenditure of Lumbini is more than that of other provinces. By February 3 of the current financial year, the government has already spent 24.91 percent of the total budget. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, capital expenditure is 22.83 percent and current expenditure is 28.47 percent.

Chief Minister Acharya directed to adopt a policy of reducing current expenditure and increasing capital expenditure. He emphasized that special attention should be paid to the implementation of equalization, conditional and special subsidy programs received from the federal government. He said that the provincial government would give priority to multi-year projects while maintaining the opinion that the selection of plans should be strict in order to discourage piecemeal projects.

38.97 billion budget was allocated in the current year. In which 24.58 billion was allocated for capital and 11.24 billion for current expenses. In the

program, Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning Dhanendra Karki, Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development Bhumishwar Dhakal, Minister of Health Khem Bahadur Saru, Minister of Forest and Environment Devkaran Kalwar, Principal Secretary Baburam Adhikari, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Planning Commission Dilliraj Aryal and other ministries' secretaries expressed their views on the achievements so far and future plans.
