Foreign Minister Deuba returns home

Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba returned home today after participating in the eighth Indian Ocean Conference held in Muscat, Oman.

She left for Oman on February 2 at the invitation of Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Oman's Foreign Minister Syed Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi. 

Minister Dr. Deuba, after returning home after participating in the 8th Indian Ocean Conference held in Muscat, Oman, while informing reporters about her visit at Tribhuvan International Airport, said that she participated and addressed the conference on behalf of Nepal.

Foreign Ministers of 40 countries of the Indian Ocean region participated in the conference. At the conference, she addressed a session on empowering the voice of the Global South.

During the meeting with the foreign minister of Iran, she requested the Minister Dr. Deuba to take initiative for the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi who is under the control of the Hamas group. 

Similarly, in a meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan, she asked for support for the reconstruction of the BP highway that was damaged due to the floods that occurred in Nepal last October, and during a meeting with the foreign ministers of UAE, Sri Lanka and Oman, she asked the related countries to start flights at the Gautam Buddha International Airport. During this visit, two separate memorandums of understanding in the diplomatic and tourism sectors were also signed between Nepal and Oman.
