The parliamentarians have drawn the attention of the government to immediately start diplomatic and political initiatives to ensure the safety of Nepali students studying in India.

During today's emergency meeting of the House of Representatives, they discussed the death of Prakriti Lamsal, a student of Butwal who was studying at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in the state of Odisha, India. They asked the government to coordinate with the Indian government for the investigation of the incident and the safety of other students studying there.

MPs Chavi Lal Vishwakarma, Madhav Sapkota, Dhruva Bahadur Pradhan, Thakur Gayre have demanded an investigation into the mysterious death of Lamsal, action against the culprits and safety assurance of Nepali students studying at KIIT University.

After the suspicious death of Lamsal, the Nepali students who protested demanding a fair investigation were abused and beaten by the campus administration and security personnel. Lamsal, a B-Tech third year student, was found dead in her hostel on Sunday evening.
