The land search committee has concluded that 910 bigha land of Nepal Sanskrit University in Dang has been encroached upon.
The land search committee of the university has submitted a report to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday. The coordinator of the committee, Shekhar Prasad Paudel, said that he had handed over the report to the Prime Minister, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, with suggestions on the use of the existing land of the university, the situation of encroachment and the steps to be taken to remove the encroachment.
Coordinator Paudel said that out of 1,336 bighas in Dang Deukhuri area, 910 bighas were encroached upon. He said that the university has not received any income from the encroached land since 2059. The
committee also mentioned that the university has 1,662 bighas of land in Dang. is . According to the committee, two hundred bighas of the university's land has been eroded by the Rapti river. Coordinator Poudel has suggested that the land can be leased to be put to use, and the government and political parties' support is needed to remove the encroachment.
Prime Minister Oli accepted the report and said that he would proceed with the necessary process after studying and discussing it. He said that unwanted activities like locking and encroachment in universities should be stopped.
The Council of Ministers meeting on June 20 formed a five-member land search committee chaired by former high court judge Paudel. Education, Science and Technology Minister and Vice-Chancellor Vidya Bhattarai was also present on the occasion of handing over the report.
