Demonstration in Kathmandu for justice for Sirahaki Rinku

Rinku Kumari, a 17-year-old girl from Navrajpur rural municipality-1 Bhagwatipur of Siraha, demonstrated in Kathmandu for eternal justice.

Rinku was found hanging in her house on the evening of January 30th after a panchayat was held to settle the case of kidnapping and gang-rape. A protest was held at Maitighar in Kathmandu demanding justice for Rinku and action against the guilty.

The youth of Madhesh district along with Sirha also lit a candle in memory of Rinku. They demand that the people involved in the incident and the Panchayati should be brought under the scope of legal action.

Shiv Yadav of Siraha says that due to the irresponsible rabies of the state and the state, the tendency of panchayats to settle the cases of heinous crimes like rape in Madhesh has not yet ended. "There are laws and laws in the country, but the state and the state mechanisms were never serious about their implementation," he said, "which is why the malpractice like panchayat is still alive, this incident is an example."

Sada was gang-raped by three local youths when she went out to defecate on the night of January 27. An attempt was made to cover up the incident in the village by sitting in the panchayat.
