Mukt Kamlari has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. On the occasion of Oli's visit to Ghorahi on Monday to address the UML assembly, the Mukt Kamalari Vikas Manch submitted a memorandum with various demands.
In the memorandum, there are demands that free technical education should be given to the freedmen, identity cards should be distributed and proper rehabilitation should be done by forming a freedmen rehabilitation commission.
Likewise, there is a demand that the 10-point agreement between the government and Mukt Kamalari in 2070 should be implemented, and that justice and relief should be given to Mukt Kamalari and their families who became orphans and virgin mothers.
In order to end the Kamlari practice which has been in the form of slavery in West Terai for a long time, the government announced the liberation of Kamlari on 13th Asar 2070. Hiramoti Chaudhary, central president of Mukt Kamlari Bikas Manch, said that despite the liberation of Kamlari with the announcement, many restoration works could not be done.
