In the fire that broke out in Halesi market on Sunday evening, the damage was more than seven crores. Houses, hotels, shops, etc. were damaged in the fire to the tune of 75 million rupees.
According to Hiradhan Rai, Acting Chief District Officer of Khotang, Padmasher Rai's three-storied house made of wood and zinc, the hardware shop on the first floor, and the office of Nirdhan Utthan Microfinance Institution on the second floor were destroyed.
Similarly, the New-Kalyan Hotel in Airakh Rai, a four-storied concrete house and a two-storied wooden house at the back of the house have been damaged worth 25 million. A one-storied kitchen house and a two-storied concrete house made of iron trusses of Prakashchandra Giri Halesi Darshan Hotel have been partially damaged and the damage is worth 30 lakhs.
Similarly, Paruhang Hotel in Bharansher Rai, the second and third floors of a four-storey concrete building were partially damaged, and the estimate is worth 50 lakhs. According to the initial report, the total damage was about seven crores, Prajia Rai said.
The fire that started from the local Padmasher Rai's gas shop around 7 pm on Sunday was brought under control after three and a half hours at around 10:30 pm. Ranbhim Gana Mudhe Barracks, Armed Police Force No. 7 Halesi Gulm, Nepal Police, District Administration, Local Level, and around 500 people were deployed to control the fire.
