It has been found that 28 billion rupees were defrauded by the cooperative in a period of almost three years. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, during the financial year 2079/2080 to January 2081/2082 (31 months), 28 billion 33 crore 14 lakh 28 thousand 727 rupees were defrauded.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, in a press briefing on Monday, said that 242 cases related to co-operative fraud have been reported across the country. Similarly, during this period, 545 people have been arrested on charges of co-operative fraud.
According to the ministry, 1,773 people are on the absconding list. According to the ministry, Bagmati Province has the highest number of cases with 99 cases. Among them, 82 cases related to co-operative fraud were registered in the valley alone. Similarly, 29 cases were registered in Koshi, 27 in Madhesh, 22 in Gandaki, 13 in Lumbini, 4 in Karnali, 38 in Sudurpaschim and 10 in CIB.
