The leader of the establishment party of the Congress has questioned party chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba about the successor to be promoted in the upcoming convention. 11 leaders who supported Deuba in the party's 14th convention reached Budhanilkanth on Friday and asked questions about the successor.

Former and current officials of Congress met Deuba under the leadership of leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula. Along with Sitaula, the team included Vimalendra Nidhi, Prakashman Singh, Gopalman Singh, Shashank Koirala, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Vijay Gachchdar, Prakasharan Mahat, NP Saud, Umakant Chaudhary and Balkrishna Khan.

They questioned the preparation of the convention, the unity of the founding group, the non-invitation of former office bearers and senior leaders to the chairman's meeting in Pokhara. They also complained that they were sidelined in the consultation and discussion.

For the 15th Congress, the leader of other organizations, Shekhar Koirala, has started the race for the chairman. There is talk that Chief Minister Gagan Thapa will also run for the chairmanship. However, the aspiring leader from the establishment side is waiting for Deuba's 'green signal'. Lately, the closeness of General Minister Thapa to Speaker Deuba has raised doubts among the leaders of the establishment party. discussion, Sitaula said that all the leaders who supported Deuba from the beginning to the second stage in the 14th Congress are still with Deuba. The message has been sent that the establishment is not one-sided, it is insecure. We have come to express our concern about that," a leader said, quoting Sitaula's statement, "Now there are only two candidates for the party president in the market. It is not right to send the message that there is no one from us.'

Deuba cannot be a candidate in the upcoming convention as he cannot be the chairman more than twice due to the party constitution. But Sitaula wanted a clear answer from Deuba. "Aren't you ready to wake up somewhere else yourself?" Even if it is so, say it," said Sitaula. However, a leader who participated in the discussion said that Deuba said that there is no possibility of him rising. On the question of the successor, the leader informed that Deuba said that 'it is not time for him to speak now and he will take a decision after the time comes'.

The tenure of the office bearers elected by the 14th convention of the Congress is reaching 4 years in November 2082. According to the party constitution, regular congress should be held in 4 years. If that is not possible, the statute has given the facility to add 1 year. Most congresses have been held at intervals of 5 years. According to the law, Congress should hold its convention by November 2083. But the leaders said that there is no possibility of the convention even in 2083. In the constitution, it is mentioned that if extraordinary circumstances arise and elections cannot be held within five years, the convention can be held in an additional six months. 

Sitaula expressed concern that even 25/30 percent of the active members have not been renewed so far. The leaders had suggested that it would be fine if the convention was held in November 2082. They said that it would have a negative impact if the elections were held after the convention. Assistant General Minister of Congress Umakant Chaudhary said that if the convention is not held within time, it will create a bad situation within the party and will not send a good message outside.  Shashank Koiral, the former general minister of the

party, was of the opinion that the convention should be held 2 years before the general election or after the election. Chairman Deuba also said that after the election, the logic of the convention can be discussed, informed a leader. "When listening to him, I felt that he was looking for a way to hold the convention after the election," said the participant in the meeting, "but we have warned that it is not only against the constitution of the party, but also against the constitution and its impact will be bad." Leader Sitaula said that he drew the attention of the party chairman to the delay in the preparation of the party convention, the organization of the party and the failure to invite the leader to the party program. He said that the leaders met collectively for mutual consultation. "Those who have been given responsibility in the party should work responsibly, the internal organizational structure of the party should be made agile, the chairman's attention has been drawn to this," he said. 

The leaders also complained that they were not satisfied with the work of party officials. They mentioned that instead of strengthening the organization of the party, the deputy chairman and general ministers used the party's forum for their own interests and targeting their candidature.
