After the pipe of Melamchi water supply project burst in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, the waterlogged place is flooded. On Wednesday afternoon, the road was flooded where the water came out after the pipe burst. Vehicular traffic has been blocked in the area after the road was washed away.
The roads in front of the District Court Kathmandu and the government offices inside the forest premises have also been inundated by the water. Tika Chaudhary, head of the Melamchi Water Supply Project Implementation Unit, said that the pipe in Melamchi broke while the Nepal Electricity Authority was laying the electricity cables underground. Chief Choudhary said, 'Our pipe broke while the authority was drilling while undergrounding the wire. We are now shutting off the water in that area.'
Arjun Nepal, Site Engineer of Road Division, Kathmandu, also said that the authority was submerged after the pipe burst while drilling. He said, 'The pipe broke while the authority was laying the wire. The road is also flooded. Now the authority makes it. He who spoiled it will make it.'
