Four journalists, including Ramesh Dhamala of Kantipur Television, have received this year's 'Good Governance Award'. On the occasion of its 34th foundation day, Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority awarded Dhamala of Kantipur Television along with Navraj Mainali of Naya Patrika Dainik, Tapendra Karki of Nagarak Dainik and Savita Achami of Namaste Khotang.com. .
According to the Commission, four journalists have been awarded the Good Governance Award for their contribution in preventing and controlling corruption and promoting good governance through journalism. Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire honored all four journalists with cash and certificates.
award-winning journalists Dhamala, Mainali and Karki have been writing on good governance, public administration, security and social interest issues for a decade and a half. Journalist Achami is doing journalism based on Khotang. On the occasion of the foundation day itself, the Authority has also awarded writer Sudarshan Acharya for his contribution to the promotion of good governance and control of corruption through writing. Similarly, Nepal Press.com and Nepal newspaper Dainik have been awarded for good governance institutions.
On the occasion of the Foundation Day, two officers and one officer have been awarded the Authority Service Award as investigative officers created by the Authority. President Ramchandra Paudel awarded the Authority Service Award to Deputy Secretary Bishnuraj Belbase and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kamal Kumar Khadka and to Survey Officer Rubina Shahi for their excellent performance in the investigations conducted throughout the year.
Authority has been celebrating the establishment day on January 28 every year . In order to control corruption and contribute to good governance, the Authority has been investigating and prosecuting cases with various legal bases, including the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission Act, 2048, the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059, and the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission Regulation, 2059.
Due to political pressure and influence, some investigations have not been fair and effective and the authority has been criticized.
