Dal Bahadur Basnet, a sheep farmer of Gutichour-1, received a shepherd allowance of Rs 18,000 last year. He raised one and a half hundred sheep and got more excited about the business after receiving the shepherd's allowance. He said, "The amount received from the Shepherd's Allowance has helped in the treatment of diseases in sheep and other works."

Sinja-6 Ki Suwa Rawat, who rears 50 sheep, says that she is happy that the government has started providing financial support to businesses that are facing crisis. "I had come to know that only government employees get salary and allowance, even for keeping sheep, they get allowance," she said. It is his experience that the herdsman's allowance has given a lot of relief to the farmers. 66 farmers like him have received shepherd allowance for the first time.

Animal Hospital and Animal Services Office Jumla has informed that 45 lakh rupees has come for shepherding allowance program this year. So far, 207 farmers have applied in the district. Farmers raising more than 50 sheep have been getting shepherd allowance. Veterinarian Bhim Prasad Timalsena of the Animal Health Branch Jumla said that the herdsman allowance program has given relief to the farmers.

"Farmers raising sheep have increased," he said. In Jumla, there are more than 1700 farmers who raise only sheep. More than 88,300 sheep have been reared in the district. 'The allowance program has encouraged the farmers, along with this, it seems that emphasis should be placed on the construction of physical infrastructure, the improvement program and the expansion of grazing areas,' said Timalsena.

Most sheep rearing is done in Patarasi rural municipality. Now there is fear of lack of grazing area for sheep and spread of diseases. At the local level, the budget is not a priority in the field of livestock and poultry. There are currently 40 animal technicians in the district. An animal technician has to take care of more than 7 thousand 68 sheep. There are 6 veterinarians across the district. There are no veterinarians in Hima, Tila and Chandannath municipalities.
