The main opposition Maoists have opposed the provision of fines and punishments in the bill on social networks introduced by the government in the parliament. Devendra Poudel, a member of the Maoist parliament, said that the bill on social networks was put forward in the Sunday meeting of the House of Representatives against the provisions of the constitution.
Paudel said that the government has introduced a bill to discourage the young generation. "Freedom of criticism, freedom of expression and the fact that we get the right to information cannot be suppressed anywhere in a democratic system". If you post, share, repost, live streaming, subscribe to anything that insults the new generation and offends the sentiments, a fine of five lakhs has been imposed. This is the provision made in our constitution,' Paudel said, 'This is the right of the Nepali people to receive information. Is this what we fought for? This is what we oppose .'
Poudel said that Maoists are not against the regulation of social networks, but they are against filing criminal cases on the basis of their views on social networks. "We are not opposed to regulation." We have warned that things that attract criminal charges should not be carried forward,' he said.
Paudel said that he has no objection to forming a high-level investigation committee to investigate the issues raised against the Maoist leaders . "Let a high-level investigation committee be formed on all the issues raised against us." We are all opposition ready . I want to draw everyone's attention to be ready for the parliamentary inquiry committee,' he said.
Paudel said that the government should move forward through the process of the House instead of making laws through ordinances. He said that there is a provision in the constitution to bring ordinances to remove obstacles. He said that there is no such thing as a parliament sitting, the ordinance is envisaged only if the country needs a law.
