Let's not let there be a lack of resources in the construction of the BP highway: Minister Dahal

Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Devendra Dahal has said that there will be no shortage of resources to build the flood-damaged BP highway. While inspecting the highway on Saturday, he also gave instructions to start the reconstruction work on the damaged section immediately, promising not to let the resource shortage.

He has drawn the attention of the road department to start the work so that the traffic is not blocked during the rainy season. He said that since the said highway is a lifeline connecting the eastern Terai of the country with the federal capital, he has instructed the road department to proceed with the work so as not to be blocked even for a single day. Ministry Secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma, who came to monitor the BP highway along with the minister, urged the road department to immediately mobilize the manpower and equipment of the department and start the work.

Similarly, Ramhari Pokharel, director general of the road department, said that the repair and reconstruction work will be started with short-term and long-term preparations. Shubraj Neupane, head of the Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office, Kathmandu, said that road obstructions and urgent repairs are being done regularly.

The 12 km road of Kavre Bhanjang-Nepal wholesale section has been damaged by the landslide that occurred from October 10 to 12. Its 8.7 km road section is washed away by Roshi river. Due to the lack of budget, the study work for the construction has not been completed. According to the study, it is seen that it will cost 9 billion 66 million rupees. More than 3,000 vehicles pass through this road section every day. During the festival, around 7 to 10 thousand vehicles travel.

After the budget is managed, the road department is planning to award the contract so that it can be built within three years. There is a problem on the road from Chowkidanda in Kavre to Mulkot. Even more problems are in Chowkidanda to Nepal wholesale section. The flood caused less damage in the Sindhuli section and more damage in the Kavre section.

Similarly, a team including Minister Dahal inspected the Suryavinayak-Dhulikhel road on Saturday and instructed to speed up the work. During that time, project head Rajendra Das said that regular monitoring and surveillance is being done to speed up the construction.
