Historical Role of Congress in Social Transformation: Foreign Minister Rana

Foreign Minister and central member of Nepali Congress Arju Rana Deuba claimed that Congress has a historical role in the social transformation of Nepal. She said that it was the Congress that had initiated transformative policies and programs for the rights of Nepal's tribes, Dalits, women and backward communities.

On Saturday, in a program held jointly by the Tharu Department of the Congress and the Nepal Tharu Sangh in Kailali, Minister Rana said that the Congress is running a campaign to build a better Nepal with the upliftment and empowerment of all castes, regions, classes and communities.

She said, 'In Nepal, a lot of work has been done in the field of caste liberation and tribal rights. But he never advertises what he has done . Congress is the common party of all. Important movements to establish the rights of all have been led by the Congress.'

She presented the example of Parshun Narayan Chaudhary becoming the party's general minister during the time of VP Koirala and said that even now Congress is working to bring all communities to important positions in the state.

'In 2009, Congress promoted Tharu and Dalits to the leadership of the party . After the establishment of the multi-party system, the Congress is the party that will advance the policy of 'Kadamjam'. From the liberation of Kamaiya, Kamalhari and Halia to the formation of the Dalit Commission and the Women's Commission, Congress has led the way," she said.

He said that despite doing many such works in social transformation, Congress was wrongly propagated as a party of capitalists only because Congress could not convey its issues to the people.
