Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba held a phone conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Abbas Araghchi, for the release of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali youth who is under the control of the Hamas extremist group.

Meanwhile, Minister Rana had a conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi last night asking him to take initiative for the release of Nepali student Bipin, who is under the control of Hamas.

On that occasion, Foreign Minister Araghchi assured that he would raise the issue of Bipin's release with priority in the upcoming meeting with Hamas officials. After the cease-fire between the government of Israel and Hamas, Hamas is freeing its prisoners.

The government of Nepal has been taking diplomatic initiatives to free Bipin from the control of Hamas. In this process, Minister Rana had appealed to the Foreign Minister of Egypt on the phone just last week. Ever since the cease-fire talks between the Israeli government and Hamas, Minister Rana has been asking Qatar and Egypt, who are mediating for peace talks with Hamas, to take special initiatives for the release of Bipin.

A few weeks ago, Minister Rana had a phone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Israel. Similarly, the Nepalese Ambassador to Israel Prof. Dr. Dhanprasad Pandit also made this request on the phone with the President of Israel a few days ago.

The government of Nepal has been continuing diplomatic efforts for the release of Bipin since last year.
