Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city will not collect garbage from Thursday. After the High Court Patan Hetaunda bench issued an injunction against dumping waste at the Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city's dumping site, the sub-metropolitan city will not collect waste from Thursday.
The Deputy Metropolitan Municipality has been cleaning the Hetaunda market area through its own employees. In collaboration with the private sector, garbage has been collected and managed from 23,000 households in the sub-metropolis.
Hetaunda-10, Raptitat Hetaunda-10, in a writ petition filed by Yogendra Prasad Upadhyay saying that the dumping site was not being managed, and the environment was polluted due to fire at the dumping site. Nirmala Paudel Bhattarai ordered the issuance of the injunction on Tuesday.
Upadhyay filed a writ petition against Green and Clean Services Nepal, which has been cooperating with the sub-metropolis and waste management. The court has issued an order to both parties to appear in court on 29th and not to throw garbage at the dumping site.
This is probably the first time that dumping of waste has been stopped at the dumping site where the sub-metropolitan municipality has been managing waste since 2026. Keshav Devkota, deputy head of the sub-metropolitan city's environment branch, informed that a notice has been issued on behalf of the sub-metropolitan city to stop waste collection, and said that the work of collecting and disposing of waste has been stopped because there is no place to dispose of waste elsewhere.
Navraj Khatiwada, the owner of Green and Clean City Hetaunda, said that after receiving information from the sub-metropolis to stop the daily garbage collection, the garbage collection was stopped. Green and Clean City Services has been collecting and managing waste from more than 23,000 households from all 19 wards of Hetaunda sub-metropolis.
