Parliamentarian Anjan Shakya has said that there should not be a legal provision to interfere with universities across the country in the 'Bill to amend the Nepal Legal Practitioners Council Act, 2050' which is being discussed in the Legislative Management Committee of the National Assembly.
In the bill introduced by the government, it has been proposed that the legal profession council will determine the curriculum of the universities that offer law studies and the university students who do not teach that course will not be allowed to participate in the examination conducted by the legal profession council . MP Shakya said that ``paragraph 5 a'' of the bill should not be kept. In that paragraph, it is proposed to determine the standards and accreditation council of educational institutions that teach law.
MP Shakya said, 'Paragraph 5A should be removed . Looking at the current amendment, it is seen that the council has taken care that the university curriculum should be only for the bar exam, so it is better not to keep the disputed passage.'
Shakya said that Nepal Legal Practitioners Council should keep the system of determining the curriculum of the bar exam in the law, but the system of determining the university curriculum should not be kept . 'In the arrangement proposed by the government There is no such thing as only for graduate studies. There is a mandatory provision that educational institutions must follow. Can the university be forced or not?, asked MP Shakya, 'Is the work done by the executive, done by the judiciary or not?'
Shakya said that the provisions of the bill should be removed, which stipulates that the law council should be made the curriculum of the university or that the university must accept what the council says and if it does not, the students of the respective university will not be allowed to participate in the license examination of the legal practitioner council. "It is appropriate to have topics such as facilitating the study of law subjects, giving suggestions if help is requested," she said.
Shakya said that since the university will come under the executive and the chancellor of the university will be the prime minister, the council of lawyers under the judiciary should not interfere.
