UML Member of Parliament Julie Kumari Mahato has said that Janakpur and Birganj customs were found to be operating illegally. In the meeting of the Finance Committee under the House of Representatives on Wednesday, MP Mahato said that the customs are in disarray.

In the meeting held after the adjournment of the committee, MP Mahato said that the customs situation is pathetic. It was seen that Janakpur and Birganj customs were being run in the dark. Customs offices are in complete disarray . No technology was used,' MP Mahato said, 'It seemed that the target given by the government for revenue collection was almost reached.'

MP Mahato said that the import of sugar from the Indian market was found to be sporadic. She said that sugar brought in that way costs 72 rupees per kilogram in Raxaul and 150 rupees in Nepal. MP Mahato also said that the Indian side is moving the border. He raised the issue of new pillars being built from the Indian side. 'Janakpur Pipraul's border moved from there to here and there, new columns  has been built,' she said .
