A 'polite agreement' has been reached between Maoist President Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma. According to the same agreement, Dahal is going to give Sharma the important responsibility of the organization department.

The distance between the two leaders increased after raising the issue of party democratization and leadership transfer. The organization department is considered an important responsibility in any party. After the 'gentleman's agreement' to give Sharma the responsibility of the organization department, there has been a pause in the conflict. 

An officer informed that Chairman Dahal proposed Sharma as head of the organization department in the officers' meeting held on Monday. Similarly, he has proposed another Deputy Secretary General Varshman Pun as the Head of Department related to Finance. In the meeting of the central officials on Monday, he proposed to assign this responsibility to Sharma and Pun. Former finance minister Pun has been given the responsibility of looking after the overall finance department. 

"Janardanji has been proposed as the head of the organization and Varshmanji as the head of the finance department," said an official, "Accordingly, a circular has been sent to all the committees."

General Secretary Dev Gurung said that according to the decision of the officers' meeting, the leaders have been divided. "There has been a division of labor to reach everyone," he said, "There has been a systematic division of labor to rebuild the party." After Dahal's confidants Sharma and Pun both claimed for the post of general secretary, Dahal selected Dev Gurung as the general secretary. After that, Sharma, who became dissatisfied, has been raising the question of the party's internal democracy and the transfer of leadership.

In July 2081, the distance between Dahal and Sharma increased after Sharma put a written opinion on internal democratization in the party, party building and leadership transfer, a special convention should be held, and the working style should be improved in the standing committee. The standing committee that was sitting at that time took the opinion given by him and other leaders for discussion in all the seven provinces.

In the last Central Committee, the political report of President Dahal covered many issues raised by Sharma and the conflict was postponed. 

Sharma had raised a separate panel against the establishment in the election of Akhil Krankatikari last week. In the direct election held for leadership selection, the candidate of his party won the majority of office bearers except for the chairman. "It seems that Janardhan is ready to be entrusted with the organization department to balance the power within the party," said another official. 

Sharma was the head of the organization department even before November 2079. He was not in particular responsibility after having a different opinion in the legislative conference held in February 2080. After a long struggle and discussion between Dahal and Sharma, he is going to be given the responsibility of the organization department again. Sharma was in charge of Wagmati province for some time. After the conflict between Dahal and Sharma, he was released from that responsibility.

Former Vice President Pun entrusted with agricultural production

Maoist Center entrusted former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun with the Department of Economic and Agricultural Production, he has returned to active politics.

According to the decision of the last Central Committee of Maoists to emphasize on production, Pun was given the responsibility of production by the officials meeting. The way for him to forget the dignity of the former vice president and become active in the Maoist as a leader is open.

Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal announced the decision to entrust Pun to the production department in the officers' meeting. Pun was prepared to be nominated as the vice president, but currently he has been put in charge of the production department. He has been participating as an invited member in the officers meeting. 

Along with this, he came into active politics with responsibility. Although there was a dispute within the Maoists about the former vice president entering party politics, the officers' meeting gave him the responsibility of the production department. 

Deputy Secretary General Haribol Gajurel informed that it was decided to give responsibility for finance and production to the former vice president. 

Preparations to make former vice president Pun as vice president were halted after questions were raised from the leaders. Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is preparing to nominate Pun, who has started participating in office bearers, standing committee and central committee meetings, as vice president.

'I can still work for the United Democratic Republic. That's why I have decided to enter party politics," Pun said in a conversation with Ekantipur a few days ago, "Constitution and law do not prevent me from entering politics again."

In the last standing committee meeting, senior vice president Narayan Kaji Shrestha and other leaders said that it would be wrong for a person who has reached a respected position to enter active politics.

Chairman Dahal was the Supreme Commander, Nanda Bahadur Pun, Barshman Pun, Janardan Sharma and Chakrapani Khanal were the Deputy Commanders of Maoist fighters during the armed conflict. He was the Vice President from November 2072 to March 2079. In March 2079, Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav was elected as the Vice President and Pun's tenure ended. Since then, he did not participate in any political program for a year and a half.

Bagmati and Madhesh in-charge changed

The Maoist center has changed the in-charge of Madhesh and Bagmati provinces. Matrika Yadav has been appointed in charge of Madhesh and Hitman Shakya in Bagmati. The central office bearer meeting has entrusted Madhesh in-charge Leelamani Pokharel with central liaison and coordination. Earlier, Vice President and Agni Prasad Sapkota were in charge of Bagmati. 

Sapkota suggested to Dahal that since he was in charge of the propaganda department, it would be appropriate to give the responsibility of Bagmati Province to other leaders.

In the Madhesh province of Maoists, there was a problem due to the dispute between the Matrika faction and the Deputy Secretary General Girirajmani Pokharel. A leader said that Yadav was made in charge of Madhesh after a long discussion. However, he says that the Pokharel side is not satisfied with it.

Leaders Haribol Gajurel Koshi, Dinanath Sharma Gandaki, Chakrapani Khanal Lumbini, Kali Bahadur Malla Karnali, Girirajmani Pokharel Sudurpaschim, Jaipuri Gharti Special Region, Laxman Pant SAARC Travel, Ram Karki Europe-America and Om Sharma have been appointed in charge of Asia. 

Maoists have also decided to start the Terai Madhesh campaign from Kachan Kewal in Jhapa, the lowest place in Nepal. Vice President and Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota informed that the postal highway focused political campaign will reach Mahakali and end on February 12.
