Six points have been agreed on regarding the cable car to be built in Pathibhara area. With the agreement, the traffic shutdown that started on January 15th has been returned.
Premprasad Bhattarai, the coordinator of the negotiation committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs) and Amber Tumyahang, the coordinator of the negotiation coordination committee formed by the agitating group, have signed the agreement.
The agitating group wanted to stop the construction of the cable car, which was under construction, while the government wanted to work and talk together. Finally, the work of the station will be continuous and the construction company will not be able to do the work on top of it. 18 people arrested during the protest from Taplejung, Damak in Jhapa and Inruwa in Sunsari will be released unconditionally. The government has already been treating those injured during the clashes. The police brought the scene of the clash from Kaflepati in Pathibhara to District Hospital in the headquarters of Fungling. Those who were referred from there were sent to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar by the district administration office with the arrangement of ambulances and health workers, while they were sent from Biratnagar to Kathmandu by Nepalese army ship. Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma said that they are now in Teaching Hospital Kathmandu.
Along with this, the conflict management process of cable car construction has also started. The agitating group had called for a traffic stop in nine districts of Arun east of Koshi province namely Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha and Tehrithum. Clashes also took place in Damak of Jhapa and Itahari of Sunsari during the bandh.
