4 more people were arrested on Sunday on the charge of misappropriation of 1 billion 49 million rupees savings of the Kumari Multi-Purpose Cooperative Organization in Beni, Myagdi. Rajkumar Thapa, the head of the District Coordination Committee of Myagdi, who was the main accused of embezzlement, was arrested by the police.
According to Inspector Sagar Paudel, Information Officer of District Police Office, Manprasad Thakali, Tham Bahadur Garbuja, Rudra Bahadur Gurung and Devikumari Thapa involved in the embezzlement of cooperative funds were arrested. They were arrested on Sunday according to the court's order.
There are 4386 savers in this cooperative and 418 share members. It is said that those who were arrested were the main accused involved in the embezzlement of funds during the investigation conducted by the office of cooperative registrar Pokhara.
A year ago, the office of Cooperative Registrar, Pokhara, under the coordination of financial analyst Nirmal Gautam, investigated the financial irregularities in the cooperative and submitted a report. Rajkumar Thapa, the main designer of the embezzlement, took the money in the name of various people without even stopping the property. Gautam, the financial analyst assigned to the investigation, said that they embezzled the funds of the cooperative by taking interest-free loans.
