Jelbang is one of the villages most affected by the armed conflict two decades ago. Jailbang was discussed as a base of armed conflict. Most of the people who lived in the harsh Jailbang at that time were close to the then rebel Maoists. Those who could not support the Maoists were displaced. Over time, the armed conflict ended and the face of Jelbang also began to change.

The road has reached Jelbang village, where there is a thick house of the Kham-speaking Magar community in the middle of the high hills, and the electricity is on. Every house has a water fountain in front of it. Video talks from home with family across the seven seas. The school building is newly built. Locals say that the educational situation has greatly improved after the construction of a modern school building with facilities. Local residents are seen discussing other possibilities of development.

The population of Jelbang is 2 thousand 854. There are 519 households here. During the armed conflict, there were only 472 households here. Recently, the number of households has increased after the development started. Among the residents of Jelbang, 99 percent are tribals, others are Dalits.

Three decades ago, almost all the villages in Jelbang were directly affected by politics when the armed conflict was raging in the country. Disputes arose between Maoists and non-Maoists. Killing started among relatives. 73 people of Jelbang lost their lives due to armed conflict. 11 people were killed from the Maoist side and 62 people were killed from the state on the charges against the Maoists. "Believing in the Maoists' dream of bringing power to the poor by changing the system, party workers sacrificed themselves," said Chandra Bahadur Budhamgar, a former teacher who is one of the leading communists in Jelbang village.

After the start of the peace process, to make Jelbang a 'peace village', the then Ministry of Peace started allocating budget to Jelbang under the post-conflict peace and reconstruction project. In the first phase, the government allocated 30.14 million budget for roads only. Jelbang is 18 km north of Sulichour in the east. The road is connected from here. The road has been named 'Balidan Marg'.

Ash Bahadur Pun, the former chairman of Sunchahari Rural Municipality, a resident of Jelbang, says that the road has opened the door for development in Jelbang. In the village, electricity is drawn from the local Ri river. An investment of 257 lakh 81 thousand produces 9 kilowatts of electricity from the project, which has shocked the village.

Maoist leaders-activists give Jailbang's face to armed conflict. Bana Pun of Jelbang, who lost two daughters to Maoists, says, "Current development and change is achieved through the sacrifice of martyrs." My two daughters lost their lives unintentionally in the armed conflict. Heroes with big hearts like my daughter have opened the minds of the leaders. Suk Bahadur Rokamar of Jelbang, who was the division commander of the Maoist fighters at the time, claims that the armed conflict has changed the society.

Local young tourism businessman Balkuram Pun said that now students and scholars are coming to understand the changed Jailbang. The history of Jelbang is intertwined with the then armed conflict and sacrifices. That's why people keep coming to understand and study armed conflict," he said. He said that attention should be paid to the development of 'war tourism' by adding Jaljala to increase the importance of Jelbang.
