Internet service has been affected in Kathmandu Valley and other areas since Sunday afternoon. There is a problem in the internet connectivity of various service providers. Along with fiber internet, users have also complained of problems in mobile internet service.
Users are complaining about problems like internet not working, slowness, frequent 'disconnects' in the connectivity of fiber internet service provider companies like Nepal Telecom, Ncell, Worldlink, Vianet, Dishome etc. Users are also complaining about internet not working through social media.
The spokesperson of Nepal Telecom, Hari Dhakal, informed that the connectivity of Nepalese service providers has been affected due to the problem in the link of the Indian company 'Airtel', which sends international bandwidth to Nepal. Our guess is that there is an international problem on the Internet now "Our technicians are working for a solution," he said. More details are yet to come.'
Sudhir Parajuli, president of ISPAN, the umbrella organization of internet service providers, also confirmed that there is a problem in the Airtel network. Airtel is one of the Indian companies that sends international bandwidth to Nepal.
Internet service providers in Nepal have been providing services by purchasing bandwidth from upstream providers including Indian Airtel and Tata.
Operators who purchased Airtel's services were more affected and a service provider said that there was damage to the wire somewhere in India . ISPAAN Chief Executive Officer Subhash Khadka informed that Airtel's connectivity has been experiencing frequent problems since the last few days.
Earlier in Baisakh, Airtel had cut the internet bandwidth it was sending to Nepal. The internet service providers had said that they had cut off the internet to Nepal because they had not informed the Indian upstream provider of the bandwidth purchase amount.
