UML Whip Sunita Baral has proposed a proposal of urgent public importance that has been registered in the Federal Parliament, the House of Representatives. In the proposal, it is mentioned that an environmental audit law should be created in Nepal.
The parliamentarians of the five major parties in the House of Representatives have expressed their support for the proposal of urgent public importance proposed by UML whip Baral. Congress MP Pratima Gautam expressed his support in that way, UML's Thakur Prasad Gayre, Maoist Center MP Madhav Sapkota, Rashtriya Swatantra Party whip Nisha Dangi and Rashtriya Prajatantra Party whip MP Bina Lama. In the
proposal, it is mentioned that mandatory environmental audit should be implemented for industries with high environmental risk in Nepal. It is said in the proposal that environmental audit is mandatory in cement, brick, sand, stone quarrying industry .
Although there is a structure of environmental laws in Nepal, it is said in the proposal that it should be fulfilled as there is no legal transmission of environmental audit. "The need for a legal structure based on the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection is seen immediately." In which it is essential to create a legal structure to maintain the balance between environmental protection and economic development and to ensure the responsibility of industries,' the proposal states .
