Congress MPs have 'boycotted' the meeting of the Infrastructure Development Committee under the House of Representatives which was called to discuss the complaint against Energy Minister Deepak Khadka. The committee has been adjourned due to the absence of the Congress MP, which has 8 members.
In the meeting called at 11:30 on Wednesday, two MPs of the Congress left after appearing at the beginning. It has been found that one of the MPs informed the Speaker that he would not come, while the rest of the MPs were absent saying that they would come. Deepak Bahadur Singh, chairman of the
committee, informed that only one MP of the Congress was informed that he would not be able to attend the meeting. The meeting was called only after other MPs asked to attend the meeting. "Today, 14 people should reach the quorum, only 12 honorable people attended the meeting. As 2 people did not arrive, we had to wait for an hour to adjourn the meeting,' said Chairman Singh after the meeting was adjourned due to lack of quorum, 'only Shankar Bhandari of Congress had to adjourn the meeting two days ago as he had to go to the district . The meeting could not be moved as it had already been scheduled.'
The most number of MPs in the Infrastructure Development Committee are from the Congress. Out of the 8 MP members of the Congress, only two were present. Since only Rajendra Bajgain and Kalpana Chaudhary of Congress were present, they also left the meeting as soon as Energy Minister Deepak Khadka and State Minister Purna Bahadur Tamang and government officials entered.
If MP Bhandari is absent after informing the Speaker, the Congress MPs who are absent without informing the Speaker are Am Bahadur Garbuja, Dinesh Kumar Yadav, Pratima Gautam, Maina Karki and Sita Gurung.
The meeting has been adjourned after Congress MPs were absent from the meeting. The next meeting of the Infrastructure Committee has been called at 8:30 am on January 24th to investigate the complaint against Energy Minister Khadka. Chairman Singh said, 'The meeting has been called on the 24th after consultation with everyone.'
