Chairman of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the entrepreneurship of the youth will help in improving the country's economy. He said that the government should support young people who are engaged in start-up and entrepreneurship through policy making and incentive programs.
Addressing the 'Nepal Startup and SME Summit' held from Wednesday at the Congress central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur, he said, 'Such summits and programs will encourage local entrepreneurship and investors will also be inspired for opportunities and will open new doors of self-employment for the youth who are suffering from unemployment. I believe that through innovation and entrepreneurship, it will also help to improve the economic condition of the country that has been hit by the global recession.'
Chairman Deuba said that in the said summit, what kind of policy should be made to encourage the enterprise of the youth and women community who have the feeling to do something at home, and he expected to get help for that .
'It is now necessary to create self-reliance and employment by developing local entrepreneurship in the village . As enterprises develop from the village level, even small investments help in employment and self-reliance,' he said, 'Recently, the attraction towards start-up business is increasing . The young generation is trying to work creatively even with a small investment . Concessional loans, training, skill development and special grants are also needed to operate such enterprises. Government support, support and patronage are indispensable as the entrepreneur has to be patient and persistent in order to stay in business. If the start-up business is operated effectively with little investment, it can also bring about a revolution in employment.'
He said that if special attention can be paid to the proper development of other areas of potential within the country such as agriculture, forestry, herbalism, tourism, and technology, it will help greatly in raising the economic condition of the country. "Today, the fact that the national income of our country is not increasing as expected, on the one hand, it is not possible to create a comfortable environment for domestic and foreign investment, and on the other hand, it seems that our private sector feels uncomfortable to compete easily with the world market . Therefore, our economy is becoming business-oriented rather than production,' he said.
He said that the Congress has adopted a policy of promoting small and medium enterprise business with the aim of increasing Nepal's local production, replacing imports and reducing foreign trade deficit.
