The meeting of the Infrastructure Development Committee under the House of Representatives, which was called to discuss the complaint against Energy Minister Deepak Khadka, has been postponed. Committee chairman Deepak Bahadur Singh informed that the meeting called for 11:30 on Wednesday was postponed due to lack of quorum.
There were 8 Congress MPs in the committee, but only two were present. Only Rajendra Bajgain and Kalpana Chaudhary of Congress were present, while the presence of MPs from other parties was also low.
Only 12 MPs were present in the 26-member committee. Congress MPs also attended and left without entering the agenda. Congress MPs Am Bahadur Garbuja, Dinesh Kumar Yadav, Pratima Gautam, Maina Karki, Shankar Bhandari and Sita Gurung were absent.
The meeting was called to discuss the complaints made to the committee about the irregularities in the contract process of Mugu Karnali and Kimathanka hydroelectric projects. A complaint was filed in the committee alleging that Minister Khadka had committed irregularities in awarding these project contracts. Most of the UML MPs were present at the meeting of the
committee. 5 out of seven UML members were present. UML MPs Thakur Gayre, Gokarna Bista, Prem Bahadur Maharjan, Nirmala Koirala and Dayal Bahadur Shahi were present. Only one of the three Maoists, Madhav Sapkota, was present. Two MPs of RSVP were not present because they were having a parliamentary party meeting.
RPPA Chairman Singh and MP Bina La were present while Jaspa's Shushila Shrestha was present.
