Maoist Center MP Madhav Sapkota has said that the absence of Congress MPs from the infrastructure development committee meeting called to discuss the complaint against Energy Minister Deepak Khadka was not a coincidence.
Sapkota also says that the absence of the Congress MP has raised questions about the dignity of the parliamentary committee.
At Wednesday's meeting of the infrastructure development committee under the House of Representatives, Mugu, Karnali and Kimathanka hydropower projects were prepared to be given to industrialists who are also Congress MPs. The only competitor of Mugu Karnali, which has a reservoir of 1902 MW, was MP and industrialist Vinod Chaudhary. 454 MW Kimathanka Project Congress MP and businessman Dr. Preparations were made to give to Sunil Sharma's company. After the project was prepared to be given to the MP of the ruling party, a complaint was filed in the parliamentary committee.
Maoist MP Sapkota says that it is not a coincidence that the Congress MP was absent from the meeting called to discuss the complaint filed in the committee saying that energy minister Khadka's activism was preparing for the project. A complaint was filed regarding the way the Ministry of Energy decided to give two projects namely Mugu Karnali and Kimathanka Arun to the private sector. The official opinion of the ministry has been requested about the complaint,' said Sapkota, 'the quorum was sufficient in terms of numbers . Majority and responsible parliamentarians were absent from the Congress . The number of Congress MPs who said they would come was the majority. But he did not attend the meeting, is it just a coincidence or is there something behind it? The question has been raised. It seems that this absence is not just a coincidence.'
Congress MPs Rajendra Bajgai and Kalpana Choudhary, who were present, also walked out as soon as they attended the ministerial meeting. MP Sapkota says that MPs should be responsible for such matters. 'We MPs need to be responsible. Today, the ministry said that the committee did not have a quorum and the discussion was not done well. Since the Congress was not present, it is just a coincidence that there was something behind it,' he said .
Committee chairman Deepak Bahadur Singh consulted with Congress MP Shankar Bhandari to fix the time of the next meeting. A meeting has been called on January 24 to discuss the complaint.
